Geoscientists directly serve the public by providing expert services and opinions on which others rely for key decision-making. This has resulted in geoscience being considered a true “professional calling”.

This site will provide information on professionalism in geoscience and the activities of the Global Geoscience Professionalism Group (GGPG).

The information on this site will benefit society and the global geoscience community by acting as a forum for collaboration on matters of professionalism in geoscience by facilitating:

• The understanding of geoscience professionalism and its importance to the public, the environment, and the profession of geoscience;
• The provision of information on clear pathways and assessment criteria for geoscience graduates seeking to attain professional qualifications;
• Understanding and collaboration between geoscience professional organisations; and,
• The provision of information on geoscience professional organisations’ standards, codes, continuing professional development, and complaints and discipline processes.

Global collaboration through GGPG will result in greater public and environment protection through increased communication and understanding of professionalism in geoscience.
